Box Boy is a hybrid film of a toy maker who’s struggle for inspiration leads him into a wonderful sky adventure with a boy who has a box on his head.

Director
Adrian Ferma
Making a film is one of the most difficult things I’ve had to do in my life. It challenges everything you know about yourself. It also tells you about the values, both personal and creative, that you hold on to. As a director you are pushed to your limits in every way possible. Months were spent just figuring out every facet of production, from story, to art direction, to production pipeline. In production, we pushed everything as far as we can take it, almost never compromising on quality. As a result, each member, including myself, grew a lot by being a part of this production. I’m very blessed to have worked with such talented and hardworking individuals.

Producer
Pairat Yim Lamlertkerdkan
I was immediately struck the first time I saw the style frame of “Box Boy”. The image has characters encountering magical creatures in the sky. It was so inspiring as this is something on which I always wanted to work. We have an amazing team that is talented and hardworking. As the producer, I am proud to be a part of this project, and excited to help bringing these ideas to life.

Production Assistant
Sabra Leong
At the beginning of my education, I wouldn't have guessed that I could be part of such a great production like Box Boy. The friends we've made along the way and the experiences we've shared are irreplaceable. Even though it's all coming to a close and in an unpredictable way, I couldn't me more proud to see the accumulation of all that hard work.

Art Director
Raven Chau
Huge thank you to BOX BOY team to make the vision become true. As a fine artist, I would never though I can participate in animation production. I had many visions for beautiful art of BOX BOY, but I have my limitation. Working as a team, we created such amazing film by combining all our strengths together, there is no limitation anymore. I hope this film can bring some joy to people in this struggling times!

Art Director
Sean Co
I never expected my senior year to be my favorite year and it’s all thanks to box boy. My experience from starting out as a prop designer to growing into the role as one of the film’s art director was a crazy ride. One that was truly a dream come true. I am blessed to have worked a director and crew that always strived to create something unique and as amazing as Box Boy.

3D Environment Lead and Lead Lighter
Austin Grant
During my time working with this core group, of specialists of 3D and 2D artists. I have paid witness to great feats of passion, that has sprung a wealth trove of hard work, ingenuity, and camaraderie from every single individual of this crew and more. For it was not the Box Plane, nor the Box Ship, that zoomed and flew thought the skies of enchanted, box theme creatures, it was my expectations. And like a box, they were taken away.

Animator
Bryan Acidera
Animation is one of the mediums that has boundless limits. Pushing for great storytelling and character
driven actions that display emotion and values. As an animator to be able to show audiences the
motivation and emotion to a character is difficult. Pushing for quality animation to entice the audience is
what we envisioned. Without the feedback from the team we wouldn't be able to do that successfully.

Rendering
Anna Windham
Being a part of the rendering team was a very rewarding experience. Although not a very big part of the production, I still feel privileged to be included in this film. I got to see images transform and blossom from mere models and 3D spaces into gorgeous works of art. I got to work with some exceedingly bright and talented individuals with whom I gained important proficiency and knowledge that I had lost. But most of all, I got to be a part of something beautiful and different, and that is priceless. Creating a film makes you feel boundless. It harnesses all of your attention, health, strength, and passion to create something bigger than yourself. Something you can show the world in the hopes that the world shows something back. This film will make it, just continue to guide it to reach its true potential. Thank you for this experience.

Lead Compositor
Noah Catan
As a compositor, it was amazing to work on Box Boy. I got to stretch my CG comp skills and delve into crazy stylized territory, instead of the photorealism we usually do in visual effects. Working with the crew was amazing, a lot of them are close friends of mine and I was extremely happy to finally collaborate with them on a production.
